Whether you are visiting from out of town, have clients flying in for business, or are living in Orange County and are looking for new things to do, the city of Anaheim has a lot to offer. With a variety of entertainment options, it can be where you spend a night out or an afternoon soaking up the sun. Here are the top seven things you can do in Anaheim, starting with the least expensive options.
Getting Lunch or Dinner at the Packing District
Situated in the recently restored citrus packing house from 1919, the Anaheim Packing District is located in downtown. Sitting at the intersection of Anaheim Blvd and Santa Ana Street, the Packing District opens at 9 am for breakfast, with other restaurants opening from 11-Noon for lunch. Most places serve dinner until 8-9 and the bars will stay open until 10-11. Featuring live musical acts, the packing district offers a wide variety of dining from fish and chips to Italian.
Local Brewery Tour
One of the most abundant attractions Anaheim has to offer is breweries. Each one offers unique beer on cold taps that can allow you to explore the full spectrum of craft beer. Although there are companies that offer brewery tours, you can visit a few yourself and make an afternoon out of it. Many of them are located a few blocks from each other. Also, there are more breweries located in the cities that border Anaheim, making the area one of the key epicenters for craft beer in Orange County. For a complete list of breweries in the area, you can use this map.
Concert at House of Blues
Although there are concerts at Honda Center and The Grove, House of Blues is more convenient due to its location. Situated at the Anaheim GardenWalk, the House of Blues is surrounded by restaurants such as California Pizza Kitchen and Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. I have attended several concerts and my experience has been very positive. The newly built House of Blues is larger than its predecessor located on Disney grounds and it is not far from the freeway. Visit the website to see what acts are coming through.
Attending a Sporting Event
The two main teams in Anaheim are the Ducks and the Angels. Although the hockey season is coming to a close, that doesn’t mean you can’t plan to attend a Ducks game next season. Also, baseball season is in full swing. With the Angels playing several series at home, it gives you the option of seeing them play either on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday in some cases. Across the street from the stadium is Karl Straus Brewing that serves not only delicious beer but awesome food as well.
The Obvious for Last: Disneyland
Many of you have already heard of Disneyland, and it is the clear option for those visiting Anaheim. While it is one of the more expensive options, it is a must if you have never been to the amusement park. With the new Star War’s land under construction, with it slated to be open sometime next year, there may never be a better time to visit.
